An excellent opportunity is available for an experienced and motivated Contract Milker to step into a high-performing, gold-standard dairy operation in the Piarere/Karapiro district.
The farm comprises 172ha effective of flat to medium rolling contour, milking 510 peak Friesian/FX cows. Production has been consistently strong, averaging 210,000kgMS over the past two seasons, (one of those being a drought) with the farm on track for ~225,000kgMS this season.
Infrastructure and systems are a real strength of this property. Milking is through a 44-aside herringbone cowshed with cup removers, with in-shed feeding year-round, and maize and grass silage fed in the paddock as required. The farm is very well raced and fenced, with plentiful shedding, a covered AB facility, Veehoff head crush, and large calf-rearing facilities. Machinery and equipment are modern and well maintained.
The farm provides two 3-bedroom dwellings. This is a 3 FTE operation plus relief, making working couples advantageous. However, for the right individual candidate, practical work-arounds can be discussed.
Day-to-day operations report to an experienced Farm Supervisor, with owners predominantly absent, allowing capable operators the autonomy to run the farm properly within clear systems.
This is a gold-standard dairy farm, where pride in presentation is essential. High expectations apply around clean infrastructure and machinery, tidy paddocks, and proactive weed control — this is a must, not a nice-to-have. This has improved the farms three year average to approx. 215,000kgMS, as we are on track for 225,000kgMS this season. The current Contract Milkers have done an exceptional job at increasing early season production year on year, and are fully reaping the rewards of this seasons summer rainfall. Potentially 230,000kgMS is even on the cards at this stage.
